Interest Groups

What are Interest Groups?

Interest groups provide the opportunity for members to pool their knowledge, share their interests and to learn, socialise and relax together. Most groups meet monthly, either in the homes of members or in public venues such as Waitrose Community room.

Each group has a named Facilitator who welcomes new members and who ensures the smooth running of the group.

Who can Join a group?

Full members of Lincoln Bailgate u3a may join as many groups as they wish, providing there is space.

Full members of other U3As may join one Lincoln Bailgate U3A Interest group, at no additional cost. However, if the group is nearing capacity, preference will be given to Lincoln Bailgate members.

How do I join a group?

Members or guests who wish to join a group, should contact Gill Datta, the Groups Coordinator

She will check if there is space and liaise with the Facilitator to ensure that they are prepared to welcome you. This is particularly important when groups meet in members’ homes. Alternatively, you can make direct contact with Gill at the monthly speaker meetings.

NB It is not possible to attend a group without this notice. I am sure you will understand that for insurance purposes all members should be accounted for and that waiting lists need to be managed in a fair and consistent way.

How to start a new Interest Group

We are always keen to help members start new groups. If you have an idea, please speak to one of the committee and we will do all we can to provide support and advice for as long as needed.

U3A members are typically resourceful and self-sufficient people and all members of a group should be ready to contribute to ensure its success.
